Anthony Geary is a renown American actor who is well known for playing the role of Luke Spencer on the ABC daytime drama, ‘General Hospital’ since 1978. As a talented and well-skilled actor, he won a record eight Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series before his retirement.
He also played a prominent supporting role in the ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic comedy UHF in 1989. Geary was featured in many other films such as Johnny Got His Gun (1971), Disorderlies (1987), Scorchers (1991), Teacher’s Pet (2004), and Fish Tank (2009) among others.

At the age of 21 years, he was featured on the Las Vegas stage as a chorus boy alongside Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca. He scared his chin while performing on the stage.
His first television appearance was when he starred in an episode of Room 222. He, later on, appeared in the following films, All in the Family, The Mod Squad, Mannix, Marcus Welby, M.D., The Streets of San Francisco, and Barnaby Jones among others. From 1971 – 1972, he was featured in his first-day time role in NBC soap opera, ‘Bright Promise’. Anthony also played the character of George Curtis, a rapist, in ‘The Young and the Restless’. In1978, he was hired for a 13-week story arc to play the role of Luke Spencer in ABC soap General Hospital.

In General Hospital, Anthony played his role as Luke Spencer. Luke is the middle child of the late, Tim Spencer, and his late wife, Lena Spencer. He was born and raised in Port Charles, New York in a poor family near the docks. Luke was street smart and would always defend and protect his sister, Bobbie when they still-growing children.
Luke’s father was an alcoholic drunkard and would physically abuse Luke, Bobbie, and their mother Lena. When their mother passed on, their father walked out on them. Anthony got the role of Luke in 1978 but later in 1984, he left the show.
In 1991, he came back to General Hospital as Luke’s cousin and look-alike Bill Eckert, due to the actor’s desire to play something other than Luke. On Friday, 8th of May, 2015, Anthony publicly announced that he would be leaving his role in the show of on General Hospital. His last scenes on the General Hospital were tapped on Tuesday, 23rd of June, 2015.
