Warman spent two years studying civil engineering before deciding to pursue journalism after being motivated by an elder sibling who worked for a newspaper. Warman began his career in print journalism at the Birmingham Post and Mail. He has spent the majority of his television career presenting regional news programs for ATV and Central. From 1976 until 1979, he worked as a regional presenter for Yorkshire Television.
During this time, he hosted the first-morning show in the United Kingdom, Good Morning Calendar, in 1977. Bob Warman returned to Associated Television in 1979 after a previous stint at BBC Radio Birmingham to work on ATV News, and when ATV became Central in 1982, Warman delivered the West edition of Central News. He presented the Sky TV version of The Price Is Right in 1989.
Warman has been co-hosting a pan-regional edition of ITV News Central with Sameena Ali-Khan since February 2009. In addition, from Monday through Wednesday, he hosts the latter sub-regional edition of Central Tonight. He began a part-time contract in February 2012, presenting Monday through Wednesday and Matt Teale on Thursday and Friday.
