Before, Johansen worked as the sports director at WKRC-TV which is based in Cincinnati, Ohio from the year 1996 to 2014. While at WKRC-TV his role was to announce Bengals pre-season games. In 2000, he moved to the radio booth where he replaced Pete Arbogast. He was let go Thursday, April 4, 2019, after one year at the station for reasons never made public.
