Roche began working for WBZ-TV as a weekend sports anchor and reporter in October of 2000. He has hosted “Red Sox This Week” on sister station WSBK since 2003. From 2003 through 2005, Roche worked as a field reporter for WSBK for Red Sox games. Roche also contributes to Patriots Game Day and Patriots 5th Quarter as a reporter. He has received two Emmy nominations for Best Sports Reporter in New England.
Roche formerly worked at WBZ Radio before joining WBZ-TV. He co-hosted chat shows with Steve DeOssie and Barry Pederson while working as a midday sports anchor and studio presenter for the Boston Bruins. Roche worked at WCCM, WCGY, WHDH, and WRKO in his early career. In the early 1980s, Dan Roche worked as a color commentator on a Worcester bowling show with Bob Fouracre. Roche is a regular guest on WBZ Newsradio 1030AM and 98.5-FM The Sports Hub, where he has also filled in as a presenter. For “Red Sox This Week,” a half-hour Red Sox show that aired on myTV38 and WBZ-TV, Roche earned a New England Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Series.
He has covered many of Boston’s most momentous events over the years. The Patriots Super Bowl in 1996, the Pats’ perfect 16-0 regular-season finale in New York versus the Giants in 2007, the Red Sox World Series Championships in 2004 and 2007 are just a few of the remarkable events he’s covered. In the 2004 Duck Boat Victory Paradise, he was the only Boston reporter to gain access and ride with the squad.
