In the 2006 series of Doctor Who, Agyeman auditioned for three roles. She auditioned for the role of Sally Jacobs in “The Christmas Invasion” on June 24, 2005, but the role was given to Anita Briem, who better fit the production team’s vision of the character as a “ice cool blonde.”
Later, Agyeman auditioned for the roles of Esme and Adeola Oshodi, respectively, in “Rise of the Cybermen”/”The Age of Steel” and “Army of Ghosts.” Esme was eventually deleted from the final draft, but Agyeman’s audition for Adeola went well. She began filming for her role as Adeola in the series in December 2005 and first debuted on television on July 1, 2006.
