Judi anchoring WIS News primetime coverage In the historic presidential election race of 2008, Judi covered the Democratic primaries and conducted a series of in-depth interviews with the contenders. She also covered the Presidential Inauguration for Raycom Media live from the nation’s capital.
She is a nationally recognized journalist who has written on everything from education to consumer issues. She has moderated statewide gubernatorial debates and conducted interviews with powerful politicians and newsmakers. She also hosted and produced a documentary about the Confederate Flag, which looked into the controversy surrounding the flag’s removal from the Statehouse dome and the eventual settlement struck. Judi’s thorough breaking news coverage includes live reporting from McClellanville as Hurricane Charley approached. Judi also provided viewers a fascinating report on the technologies used to rescue people faster in her special report, “Into the Fire,” when she finished firefighter training and stepped inside a burning building live to mimic a rescue. Her consumer reports include her popular “Buy It & Try It” series which tests “As Seen on TV” products to see if they really work as advertised.
She has received three Emmy awards for best newscast as co-anchor of WIS News at 6. Judi was voted Reporter of the Year by the National Alliance on Mental Health in South Carolina in 2012. (NAMI). Judi has served on the boards of Healthy Learners, the Palmetto Health South Carolina Cancer Center, the Palmetto Center for Women, and United Way’s Palmetto Society. She also speaks at numerous schools and community events, and she enjoys visiting the Department of Juvenile Justice’s transition program to mentor teenage girls.
Judi also hosts “NTouch” on KISS 103.1FM every Sunday night at 6 p.m., where she discusses trending topics and significant issues in the community.
Judi attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and majored in Business Management. She went to Indianapolis, IN with her husband and switched to Indiana University – Purdue University after being married in her senior year and becoming a military spouse. Judi opted to pursue a career in broadcasting after completing her college internship at WTHR Channel 13 in Indianapolis. She earned her first position as a reporter for WIS News Radio 1320am. Judi has worked as a general assignment reporter, weekend anchor, and anchor of WIS Sunrise during her time at WIS.
