Orr began working for Fox 29 team in September 2015 where she served as a weather anchor for the channel’s evening newscasts. She started her career in KYW-TV in 2003 where she worked as the chief meteorologist. Before joining KYW-TV, she was working for WCAU-TV as a Weekend Meteorologist where she introduced a summer series highlighting the Jersey shore.
As a meteorologist, she has hosted the show called “Orr at the Shore,” over 12 years. However, after becoming a mother, she left the show where she was presenting at 5 p.m and 6 p.m. She, therefore, moved to CBS3 and started presenting the 10 p.m. weather on the CW Philly 57, and the 11 p.m.
In 2003, she was recognized by the New Jersey Governor’s Office for her series of summer reports “Orr at the Shore”. The series highlighted environmental awareness on the Jersey shore. She is more concerned with the Jersey shore because her family has travelled “down the shore” for over 30 years.
She has covered major stories like broadcasting live from the cockpit of a hurricane hunter aircraft while flying through Hurricane Ivan in 2004. She has filled in as the official meteorologist of the Philadelphia Eagles and broadcasted live from the 2005 Super Bowl and 2008 World Series. She has also reported on weather updates and commentary for CBS Radio, XM Radio, ESPN Radio, and SportsIllustrated.com.
As a former board member of the American Meteorological Society’s Board of Broadcast Meteorology, Kathy selected candidates to receive the coveted AMS Seal. She also serves as a mentor for the American Meteorological Society’s DataStream Project. For over ten years, she has provided viable education to teachers in the field of Meteorology for them to add it to the current curriculum.
