Anka began his music career by releasing his first single, Diana, which was recorded in mid-1957. In the late 1950s, he performed the hit songs Lonely Boy, You are My Destiny, and Put Your Head on My Shoulder. From 1960 to 1964, Paul collaborated with composer and director Ennio Morricone, singer and songwriter Lucio Battisti, and many others.
Paul wrote the single The Tonight Show, featuring Johnny Carson, the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra’s hit My Way. In the 1960s, she started acting in motion pictures and writing film soundtracks, Longest Day. He wrote several other songs for movies such as Lonely Boy and My Home Town.
In the 1970s, he signed a contract with Buddah Records and released two albums, namely Paul Anka and Jubilation. In 1974, he collaborated with American singer Odia Coates to record the hit Having My Baby, ranked at number one on the music charts. The following year Paul performed several other songs with Odia. Some of them are One Man Woman and I Don’t Like to Sleep Alone.
Nine years later, he performed the single Hold Me Till the Morning Comes alongside Peter Catera, a vocalist and bass guitarist of the band Chicago.
In 1975, he recorded a jingle for Kadak, written by Bill and Roger Nicholas, titled Times of Your Life. It was ranked number 7 on the US pop chart in 1976. Later in the 1970s, he released several other albums like Listen to Your Hear, Headlines, Both Sides of Love and Walk a Fine Line. In 2005, Paul recorded the album Rock Swings for which he received a star on the Walk of Fame in Toronto. His latest songs are Classic Songs, My Way, Songs of December, and Duets.
