Steve is working for WFLA News Channel 8 as a chief Meteorologist. Jerve has also worked as a weather anchor, reporter, photographer, and weekend anchor for the station. Previously before he landed at WFLA, Jerve worked as a reporter and weekend news anchor in his home state of Minnesota. This was before going on to forecast weather in Jackson, Miss., Orlando, and St. Louis, Mo. While working for the station, he won an Emmy Award in 1996 for forecasting in the Mid-America Region.
He made his name popular after forecasting the weather from residents’ backyards in Orlando. He had a segment called ‘Backyard Weather.’ Through this segment, Jerve discovered some of Florida’s best-hidden jewels, such as his favorite picnic spot, Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales.
He worked at KAAL-TV in Austin, Minnesota as a climate grapple, columnist, picture taker, and end of the week stay. He was later promoted to serve as a producer and supervisor. He served as the fundamental climate grapple at WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi.
He relocated to WFTV in Orlando, where he worked as the 5 pm climate stay. While there, he contributed the encountering of the direct intensity of typhoons while covering Hurricane Andrew in 1992. He has also secured sea tempests, Gilbert and Hugo. He later moved to KDNL in St. Louis, where he took over the position as a boss meteorologist. While there, he won an Emmy Award in 1996 for forecasting in the Mid America locale. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Meteorological Society and has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation. Currently, Steve can be seen on-screen live forecasting and updating on daily weather every weeknight at 5, 6, and 11 pm on WFLA-News Channel 8 in Tampa.
