James Timothy McCarver is an American sportscaster, and he use to be a professional baseball catcher. He has played baseball for 21 years and when he retired he started his broadcasting career. He reached the MLB level when he was only 17 years. In 2009 Tim released a cover jazz album.

In 1960-1962 season he played for Memphis, Charleston, and Atlanta. 1963 called up to the major league. In 1967 he finished second in the National League Most Valuable Player award. During his stay in St. Louis, McCarver was a part of two World Series-winning teams. McCarver had previously played with the Phillies, Expos, Red Sox, and a brief spell with the Cardinals prior to the 1970 season.
