Ye began his career working as a producer in the mid-1990s. At 19 years old, he produced eight tracks on Down Earth for a rapper called Grav. Partially, he was also a ghost producer for Deric’ D-Dot’. Ye was a member of the late 1990’s Chicago rap group called Go-Getters, of which he released World Record Holders in the year 1999. In 1998, he signed to manage the production company, Hip Hop, since 1978.
As a producer, he has produced for famous artists and music groups such as Foxy Brown and Harlem World. West’s popularity came in 2000 when he started producing for artists on Roc-A-Fella Records. Ye released his first single called Through the Wire on the 30th of September, 2003. Later on, he released his single called The College Dropout on the 10th of February, 2004, and the single was commercially successful.
