Grey started singing old church melodies in her late teens and, on the encouragement of a friend, entered the world of comedy. DeLisle imitated voices in her stand-up style. Her impersonations drew the attention of a casting director, who suggested she try voice acting. She returned to her musical ambitions at this time, but she also began taking voice-over classes. Sandy Schnarr, a talent agent, was her first client.
With the direct-to-video picture Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, DeLisle began voicing Daphne Blake in the Scooby-Doo series, a role she acquired from her friend and teacher Mary Kay Bergman after the latter’s suicide. “It was an odd turn of circumstances to get to play Daphne,”

She stated around the time of the film’s release that she had no ill sentiments toward Seyfried or her performance in it. DeLisle has also done some modeling; she is the woman in the upper-right corner of the cover art for the 2017 Nintendo Switch title 1-2-Switch, with her nose doctored to be larger than it is.
