Over the past 14 years, he has worked as a television news journalist in San Diego, covering big stories such as the 2003 and 2007 wildfires, the opening of Petco Park, the La Jolla Landslide, boundary problems, Occupies Wall Street, and the Mayor Bob Filner Scandal. He worked as an assistant in a top Hollywood Talent Agency, a television studio Page, and even as a Disc Jockey on a Caribbean cruise ship after graduating from college. His first on-camera job was hosting and producing a magazine show called Parks Are for People for the County of Los Angeles. His first community cable news job was for the City of West Covina, which led to television news jobs in Palm Springs, Oklahoma City, and San Diego.

Jim has earned 13 regional Emmy Awards and several nominations during his career. He’s been an avid athlete since his high school and college track days, and he also enjoys sailing and chess.
