She became known as a comedian who makes various impressions such as Hillary Clinton, Martha Stewart, and Ann Romney. She also made impressive impressions of celebrities like Edie Falco and Shakira.
McKinnon, an actress started impersonating Hillary Clinton on the TV show ‘Saturday Night Live’ leading up to the 2016 Presidential Election. She was actually impersonating the candidate & wearing a prosthetic mask for this role, but her fake version interacted with real-life Hillary Clinton.

Kate McKinnon’s acting career started in her childhood when she was cast as the Queen of Reading Week for an ad campaign. She used an English accent to audition. Kate recalls that her British accent made her famous in America during the 90s. Now she does impersonations on Saturday Night Live and says, “The genesis of my life was probably when I started doing impressions.”
She graduated from North Shore High School in 2002 and from Columbia University in 2006 with degrees in theater. She co-founded a comedy group, Tea Party, that focused on musical improv comedy.
In 2007, she joined the original cast of Logo TV’s ‘The Big Gay Sketch Show’ as a cast member. She was a show regular for all three seasons and has been performing live sketch comedy for Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City since 2008.
At Columbia, she starred in three shows: V109 Dial D for Deadline, V110 Off-Broadway, and V111 The Sound of Muses. She played along with Jenny Slate and Grace Parra, future actors in the film. She was also the directing duo Tze Chun and Greta Gerwig, and Peter Koechley, an editor at The Onion. In addition to this, she was a member of Prangstgrüp, a comedic group of her college-age.
