Kris started swimming and diving at a tender age. She worked as a diver for eight years traveling around the country until she had back surgery at 12. Budden currently works as a college sports sideline reporter for ESPN, where she works on football, basketball, and baseball. Before landing at ESPN, she was a sideline and feature reporter for FOX Sports as she covered NFL and college football from 2013-2015.
Her career started in 2007 when she worked at WCAV in Charlottesville, Virginia as a weekend sports anchor. She was also working for FOX Sports San Diego as a host and reporter for their coverage of the San Diego Padres. She worked for six years at WBIR in Knoxville, serving as a sports anchor. Kris has therefore covered various sports stories that are related to the 2012 London Olympics, NCAA men’s and women’s tournaments, and Pat Summit’s retirement.
Later on, she relocated to San Diego, California, in August 2013, where she worked for Fox Sports. In 2014, she served as a sideline journalist of Padres broadcast and fill-in host for its pre-game and post-game shows.
In her work, she has been honored with an Associated Press Best Sports Feature Award and a regional Emmy Award for Best Talent in Sports in 2016. She has also been recognized for her excellent work in sports broadcasting, having received two awards.
