The best of her articles were collected in her debut book, Entre ossos e an escrita, which was released in 2005. Uma Vida Inventada, the second book, sold 100,000 copies in Brazil and was exported to Portugal. She’s also written two plays, one of which, As Meninas, was nominated for a number of awards. In the Brazilian magazine Época, she writes a column.
Video Show, Programa de Domingo, and Saia Justa have all featured Maite as a TV host. Achadas e Perdidas, Proença’s first stage play, was written in 2006. Her first production as a theater producer was Buda, which she produced in 2002.
She sparked popular anger in Portugal in 2009, this is after making provocative remarks on the Brazilian TV show Saia Justa, and she was accused of being Lusophobic, but she has subsequently stated her love for Portugal multiple times. She has now refuted the allegation and apologized multiple times, including on her official blog.
