Parsons began her career in Salt Lake City, Utah, at KSTU-Fox 13. She’ll never forget the day her News Director asked if she could report as an intern. “Yes, I can!” she replied. She began reporting while also working as a substitute teacher to make ends meet. She was officially employed as a reporter after her internship, which led to a career as a weekend anchor.

Parsons relocated to Portland in 2000 and began working as a co-anchor with Wayne Garcia in October of that year. Prior to that, she worked in college radio and at Salt Lake City’s Fox 13 KSTU. In 1996, she progressed from an internship to a full-time reporter, weekend anchor, and host of a weekday morning show.

Parsons spent the first 13 years of her career in Portland co-hosting the 10 p.m. news with Wayne Garcia, before moving from late nights to early evenings and solo anchoring the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. She eventually returned to her morning origins, joining the Good Day Oregon team. From 4:30 to 9:00 a.m., she joins Kimberly Maus, Andy Carson, and Tony Martinez. When she’s not on set, Parsons enjoys reading, traveling with her family, and trying out new eateries in Portland. She’s also been known to join her friend’s live karaoke band on stage and perform a song or two.

Kimberly Maus and Parsons spend a lot of time messaging back and forth. After sitting next to each other on set for four and a half hours each day, they don’t seem to get enough time together.
