Susan Shaw (Suzanne Saunders Shaw) is an American Emmy award-winning journalist currently working for NBC Bay Area since 2009. She serves as the Editorial Director, where she develops opinions and fosters debate on pressing state and local issues, especially education and fiscal politics. She also serves as the main news anchor at WOOD TV8, hosting a different show called ‘24 Hour News 8’ at Noon, 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6 p.m.

She co-hosted alongside Stan Bunger for the nationally technology shows ‘New Media News’ and ‘Next Step.’ In 2000, she hosted the show ‘MyPrimeTime.com,’ serving as a reporter for ‘Prime Movers’ that is aired on Nightly Business Report on PBS.
As a journalist, Shaw has covered many West Michigan news events over the years. This news includes including the death of President Gerald R. Ford and his wife, First Lady Betty Ford. She also alerts viewers with life, breaking news daily. She has been involved in decades of election nights, such as the election of Michigan’s first female governor, Jennifer Granholm, as well as the elections of Governor Rick Snyder.
In October 1994, she served for WNEM TV5 in the Saginaw/Flint/Bay City/Midland area as the main news anchor for the 6 p.m. & 11 p.m. newscasts. Before that, she served for stations like WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, WEYI-TV25 in Flint, and WWTV 9&10 in Cadillac.
Besides working as a journalist, Susan also anchors the news for various organizations such as Silent Observer and the Van Andel Institute’s Angels of Excellence program. She works with station events like the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree program. These stations provide toys for the less advantaged children in the society, the water drive for Flint residents impacted by lead-tainted water, and Nexstar’s Day of Caring initiative.
